Deskripsi Perusahaan
Bis Industries was originally a division of Brambles Industries: Brambles Industrial Services.
The division's origins can be traced back to Brambles’ relationship with The Broken Hill Proprietary Company Limited (BHP).
Brambles helped reclaim land bought in 1912 by BHP for its steelworks in Newcastle, New South Wales. The steelworks officially opened in 1915. Brambles later provided contract-based industrial services to BHP at Port Kembla in New South Wales, and when BHP built steelworks at Whyalla, South Australia, and Kwinana, Western Australia.
Bis Industries - History
Walter Bramble's son Alan Bramble (1891-1946) stands beside one of the steam lorries introduced by his father who, as a pioneer in transportation, was always keen to innovate (image supplied by Brambles Industries).
Over the years, Brambles developed its industrial services business by providing specialised services to the Australian steel industry. Its services included the transportation of raw materials, slag handling, provision of heavy haulage and a range of earthmoving equipment, cranes and other heavy plant for construction, mining, road building and quarrying.
In 2004, Brambles merged the management structures of Cleanaway Australia and Brambles Industrial Services Australia to capitalise on core operating synergies.
In June 2006, Brambles sold Brambles Industrial Services and Cleanaway Australia to funds managed by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (KKR). The business was renamed BIS Cleanaway.
KKR is one of the world’s oldest and most experienced private equity firms specialising in management buyouts, with offices in New York, Menlo Park, California, London, Paris, Hong Kong and Tokyo. KKR acquires industry-leading companies and works with management to grow and improve them and thereby creating shareholder value. Established in 1976 and led by co-founding members Henry Kravis and George Roberts, KKR has completed over 140 transactions valued at approximately $215 billion.
In May 2007, KKR sold the Cleanaway business to Transpacific Industries (TPI). The new company was called BIS Industries Limited.
On 30 April 2007, we grew our underground services to customers in Queensland and New South Wales through the acquisition of Allied Plant Services’ Allied underground equipment business.
In our quarries operations in Tasmania, we obtained further mining leases through the acquisition of Fieldwicks in Tasmania in June 2008.
On 1 December 2010, Bis Industries finalised the acquisition of the Gulf Group of companies. Both companies are structured around the same business model and utilise specialised equipment.
The Gulf Group’s geographical spread across Western Australia and in particular the Northern Territory created entry into new markets for Bis Industries.
On 1 November 2011, Bis Industries launched its new brand and officially brought all the different businesses under one united banner.
